MICROBE Workshop - The concepts of Keystone taxa and Core Microbiome

Monday, 15th January 2024, 8:00 - 13:00 (CET)

Recent studies have proven the importance of microbiomes for life on Earth. However, we lack a clear mechanistic understanding what are the determining factors of how microbiomes are formed, how they interact, and how (meta)phenotypes of microbiomes change in time and space, as most of the data which is available is based on cultivation-independent molecular analysis of microbiomes and correlation-based analysis.

Our aim was to bring together a diverse audience of scientists and experts to discuss different definitions of "keystone taxa" and/or "core microbiota".

The workshop has been organized by our project beneficiary Helmholtz Zentrum Munich, HMGU, Germany.
